Commission Work

Story Development Package $300 flat fee

Character development, (up to) 12 issues of story outline (roughly a page per issue), pre-pitch documentation (logline, synopsis, other general information), story development, and basic world building.  This sets someone up with a solid premise to work from before the scriptwriting and art starts.  Turn a “little idea” into a “solid idea” that can be worked on.  Will require meetings or chats as we work on the details.  You'll end up with a solid story development package that you or anyone else can work on for your project.  Does not include scriptwriting or comic book pages.  If you are interested in character design work, I would suggest working with Chris Staggs (https://www.staggsart.com)

Writing rate $125/page

Standard Pitch Package - see writing rates

Choose your writing length, typically matching the art length at minimum, but you may want a finished issue scripted.  If the pitch is picked up, I can stay on the project for up to the first 12 issues.  I will discuss this during detail finalization.  If you are interested in comic book art, I would suggest working with Chris Staggs (https://www.staggsart.com)  Choose your page length on the art, typically 5-7 pages for most pitches and reach out to Chris.  Additionally, I work really well with Chris Staggs which is why I recommend him.  If you have questions about art for a pitch, I can discuss basics with you during a consultation, but you would still need to reach out to an artist for that work.

+ Pre-Pitch documentation $50 flat fee

Includes: Logline, long synopsis, short synopsis, genre details, pitch letter 90% ready

Graphic Novel & One-Shot Package - see writing rates

Hire me to work on your graphic novel or original one-shot comic (usually 1-5 issues in total).  I can have your piece written following an approved schedule.  This is a great option if you want to self-publish.  If you are interested in comic book art, I would suggest working with Chris Staggs (https://www.staggsart.com)

Process

Step One.  Inquire

If you are interested in hiring me, please send an inquiry email.  You can even use the contact form under CONTACT.  Include a little about you, what you're looking for from me, if you have a deadline for the project, and anything else that you think is pertinent.  Don't send me any files yet.  Let's get a consultation meeting set up to see if we're a good fit.  It does help if you tell me where you live because I'm in Alaska.

Step Two.  Consulation

During the consultation (FREE and roughly 15 to 20 minutes), we'll talk more in-depth about what you're looking for.  This is a great time to ask me questions.  I know I'll be asking you questions.  If you are interested, I'll send you a quote with the scope of work, proposed schedule, and my pricing.  At this point, its up to you if you want to move forward.

Step Three.  Quote

I'm going to send you a preliminary quote.  You are allowed to ask for changes.  Maybe you have a deadline change.  Maybe you want to add or subtract something from the scope of work.  I do ask for a retainer up front, usually of 30%, but this could change depending on the project.  A full graphic novel or a multi-issue series may have a reduced retainer.

Step Four.  Contract

You accept the quote.  Maybe you ask for a few adjustments (totally cool).  Once I get your acceptance on the quote, I'll draft up a contract.  I do ask for a retainer up front, which we will discuss during Step Three.  We can go over the contract in a meeting, if you choose.  After the contract is signed by both parties, I'll send it with an invoice for the retainer.

Step Five.  Work In Progress

Part of my quote will include a schedule for the work.  While I'm working for you, I'll probably have questions.  Please be available through email or Google chat or some similar method.  As we work together, I'll probably request a few definite progress meetings just to keep you up to speed to my progress.  I really want every piece of work to shine, so PLEASE be involved.

Step Six.  Finished Work

When I finish the work, I'll let you know.  If I'm doing a Story Development Package, I'll trade you - final payment for the package.  If I am writing scripts for you, I'll send you a final invoice and a watermarked final copy.  I'll send you a non-watermarked final copy upon final payment.
